this morning, i harvested our first red and yellow onions. they showed signs of being ready to be picked (the greens were starting to die back), so i chose these two. not much of a bulb at the bottom (see the last image as i use my hand for size reference). i harvested these to let them dry out a little before our party on saturday. i want to use it in a roasted vegetable dish.
i do see a red onion that is growing pretty big, which i wanted to pull out, but the greens are still very perky and all green, so i decided not to and see how big it will actually grow.
i can't wait to see how they taste!
(i cut the green tops to use as regular green onions later. i wash them, cut them and freeze them).
